Music and Dances in Funes
tipologia
8mm - HMCARRGAE-0011
On August 15, 1957, Gaetano Carrer filmed the traditional Funes festival in South Tyrol, with the Dolomites in the background. The camera captures musicians in typical attire and men performing the Schuhplattler, characterized by energetic movements and slaps on their knees and soles. One man also attempts to climb a decorated greasepole (albero della cuccagna) adorned with garlands and colored ribbons, a summer tradition of fun and competition. Children, adults, and the elderly observe and participate, wearing traditional Tyrolean costumes.
