Mancuso and Racisi: Villages of the Sila
tipologia
8mm - HMDOMIDAN-0007
In 1967, amateur filmmaker Danilo Dominici documents a trip with his wife in Calabria, traveling by Fiat 600 through the mountainous landscapes of the Sila. The footage captures a route through conifer forests, with stops at the Mancuso and Racisi Villages, showing wooden houses nestled within the woods. The villages of Mancuso and Racisi, established in the 1930s as tourist and forestry settlements, represent a rare example of Calabrian mountain architecture, built in wood and immersed in greenery, reflecting a distinctive way of living in the southern mountains.
