In 1966, Don Vitalini films an alpine ascent organized by the Milan section of the Associazione Nazionale Alpini to Punta San Matteo, in the Ortles-Cevedale group. The footage follows a group of men, women, teenagers, and children as they progress between Rifugio Berni, the Dosecù Glacier, and mixed snow-and-rock slopes leading to higher elevations. The camera captures preparations on snowy slopes, the roped ascent across glacial sections, and the slow, careful climb along the ridge, highlighting moments of teamwork and small acts of camaraderie. In the background, the harsh and luminous alpine landscape unfolds, with vast snowfields, crevasses, and rocky spurs defining the environment.
