In 1987, Bruno Spaggiari films a family outing on Mount Etna, in a landscape still marked by the eruptions of the early 1980s. The clip opens with views of some damaged buildings surrounded by dark lava fields. The camera then follows the children as they walk and explore among the volcanic rocks, typical of the Etna environment. The family arrives in front of a yellow sign marking the Hornitos from the 1985 eruption—small structures of solidified lava formed during that event. The Spaggiari family stops to observe and photograph the site, while in the distance other hikers and the cable car buses transporting visitors to the summit can be seen.
