The film opens with a sign humorously announcing: “Ski Race – Cup of the Three Venezie – Nava 14.12.30.” In reality, it is not the famous road car race that in the 1930s crossed northeastern Italy, but a small, playful family ski competition organized among friends along the snow-covered streets of Nava. Pippo Barzizza’s camera captures the three participants as they take on the downhill, turning the mountain village into an improvised race track.
