On 31 December 1953, cinematographer Renato Longo documents the preparation of the New Year's Eve dinner. An initial sign reads: ‘Pastificio magico, black gnocchi... with white flour... how do you explain it? Ask Lina.' Logo shows three women in the kitchen, busy preparing potato gnocchi: they knead, form strands of dough and cut them into chunks to make the typical gnocchi. The next scene moves to the set table, where the family gathers to enjoy the meal, celebrating together the arrival of the year 1954.
