A film document on a "Roman holiday", lingering by the imperial forum in the most classical way, becomes an effigy of the late 1930s culture, when the innocent little girl, framed in teh shot - and judging by the timing, directed and not spontaneous - shows a perfect Roman salute, almost standing at attention.
