Just upstream Pisa, followng the River Arno stream, the city scatters, but works go on. Wheter it is the boatmen's, digging the riverbed, or a mother's, with her children. Victory Bridge, clearly visible behind the workers, had been built in 1931, and in 1934 (just before the inauguration) it collapsed under the exceedingly heavy "Roman" statues. It was built again, but later destroyed in July 1944. Today, in fact, there is a more modern version of it, quickly built between 1949 and 1950.
